An estimated 7,000 people stayed away from Merkland Wood yesterday, which was just as well for the others who thoroughly enjoyed the official opening of Dan's Walk, featuring environmental sculptures by Tim Pomeroy.

The Lady Jean Fforde cut the tape and then visitors were treated to a tour.
